This standard applies to footwear designed for wildland firefighting operations, including use in wildland–urban interface (WUI) environments where wildland fire conditions are present.

Technora® thread is a high-strength, heat-resistant fiber used in critical boot stitching where failure isn’t an option. It won’t melt or drip when exposed to heat and holds up under constant flexing, abrasion, and heavy strain. These boots are fully resoleable and rebuildable, designed to be repaired rather than replaced. When the sole wears down, it can be replaced, and critical components can be rebuilt to extend the life of the boot.
