Handcrafted Boots
Understanding our quality control when it comes to Handcrafted Boots
All of our products are built to what is in our opinion the highest quality standards
What it is
Here is a definition of high quality handcrafted boots; Handcrafted Boots are constructed with leather, rubber, nails, thread, and screws. It has "thicker than usual" leather, and generally last longer than other boots, and usually have an arch support with heels. They are customizable in options and sizing available on our website.
What it's not
Because of the handcrafted nature of JK Boots, here are some disclaimers to be aware of that may vary and be uneven, offset, or different, throughout each individual boot; the color, leather finish, texture, thickness, stitching lines, spacing, eyelets, hooks, quarter spacing, uppers positioning, heel counter position, sole stitching. Stitching on uppers and soles may be frayed, or appear torn in some area. All of these things are normal for handcrafted boots. Rest assured that quality is not compromised. Appearances may be deceiving and always take second priority when it comes to building quality handmade boots.
Sizing Methods
Finding your size is simple and easy, have no fear.
There are 3 ways to choose your size
1) Choose your size based on our simple sizing guide:
- First grab a standard U.S. inch ruler and lay it on the ground up against a wall (choose a wall with a relatively flat baseboard), with the zero marker starting at the base of the wall.
- Stand with one foot directly on the ruler, with your heel against the wall (at the 0” end of the ruler) and your toes pointing away from the wall
- With weight on your foot, read the tick mark where your longest toe is at, to the nearest quarter of an inch.
- Input in your foot length in inches into the size calculator and follow the prompts to get your recommended size.
Width - We have three widths to choose from, select what feels would match you best. Narrow, Average or Wide.
2) Try ons (Custom Boots)
Have try on boots sent to your doorstep to confirm that it's right for you. This is highly recommended for first time customers.
If you’ve had handmade leather boots before and are confident in your sizing but don’t see your size available, just type it into the box below and we’ll build you exactly that.
3) Visit us!
You can always stop by one of our locations to get fit and confirm your size.
Comfort
What it is
Comfort means having a proper length, width, arch support, and heel height which may provide better current and long-term foot health.
What it's not
Comfort is not a promise to make all your foot issues go away. There are many factors like fatigue, weight, bone structure, injury, genes, unknown medical issues that may come into play. We do not promise to make boots feel like clouds on your feet. You can try them on before purchase, and we can help make suggestions for you. Make sure your expectations are realistic, before committing to a purchase. Later, you can always try another size, or adjustment during another purchase.
Hard Toes
Any hard toes including Composite, Steel, Fiberglass, Celastic, may cause a bulky or larger than normal look. This is because it is added material on top on the normal shape of the boot.
Lead Times
All lead times begin after size confirmation. This means you have confirmed the size we are building for you.
Current lead times begin after size confirmation, they are approximate and not guaranteed. There are varying lead times for New Builds, Rebuilds, New Soles, Try-On boots, Size confirmations, etc.
If general manufacturing gets pushed out, all lines are affected, not only yours in particular. If you have selected an expedited lead time, you position in manufacturing has not changed, however, the general lead time may change.
Shipping takes an additional few business days depending on location
(Understanding size confirmation: JK Boots has confirmed your sizing via in store fitting, try on process, or your choice of size.
Any modifications, warranty, adjustments, to finished product, after they have been completed, will be done at same lead time originally chosen.

JK Boots offers a 1-year limited warranty. Past this point, customers are fully responsible for making the boots last. A combination of fresh socks, proper oiling, proper drying, and outside conditions, must be maintained in order to increase longevity. Please review our Warranty Policy for complete details.
Repairs
After any repairs, it is not possible for the product to be original. There are no guarantees of original color, texture, thickness, alignment, and stitching, due to the fact that there are many factors at play including but not limited to, old, dry, cracked, or stretched leather, Hides, worn areas, etc.
After new soles, there may be frayed stitching on top of the welt which is the old original stitching. This does not effect the quality.
After rebuilds, the uppers may be misaligned according to how the leather stretched during wear.
