Sponsor A Firefighter
You Built ThisThank You
We are absolutely overwhelmed by what everyone is doing. We had no idea people would start asking to sponsor a firefighter.
LOOK AT THIS!
The whole story in 14 seconds
What Already Happened
When the fires hit our city, we personally came up with three things we could do. We began executing all three immediately:
JK Builds the Recharge Station
We opened our headquarters to fire crews, 7 AM to 9 PM every day: hot food, coffee, a place to wash up and rest between shifts.
JK Donates 50 Pairs
We committed 50 pairs to the crews on the line, then went past the allotment because the requests kept coming.
JK Donates 100% of HomeFront Day Profits
On August 5, every dollar of profit from every store and every online order went to Spokane residents who lost their homes.
We thought we were done.
America Stood Up
Then our inboxes changed. Something different was happening. People wanted to support not only the firefighters, but also us, JK Boots. We were floored. We don't take donations. So we built the one thing everyone kept asking for.
So we made this page. One page, one place, for the people who asked. We are not marketing this. We are not advertising it. There are zero ad dollars behind it. The public built this, and all we did was answer. You Built This.
This is a regular pair of our boots at the regular price. Nothing is marked up because of the fires. Our own giving, the pairs we distributed personally, Home Front Day, and the recharge station, came before this page. You asked for a way to give directly to them and get boots on their feet.
How It Works
-
You sponsor a firefighter. Write a message if you'd like. We will print it and place it in the box.
-
We match your pair to a fire crew member, worst boots first, then we deliver it directly to them.
-
Thank you for taking care of the people who take care of us. Follow the deliveries at #JKHomeFront
The important details, plainly: This is a retail purchase, not a charitable donation to a 501(c)(3) organization. Your purchase is not tax deductible. No donation receipts are issued. Your order confirmation serves as your receipt. Applicable sales tax will be charged. Washington sales tax is collected because every pair is delivered to its firefighter in Spokane. Recipients are matched from our verified request list by need. You cannot select a specific firefighter, and delivery timing depends on fire operations, though we're out there every day and deliveries are moving quickly. Pairs are delivered at Base Camp, or shipped to the firefighter's home unit if crews demobilize. Photos are shared only when the firefighter consents, so an individual photo is not guaranteed. Orders are refundable until your pair has been matched and fulfilled, and final after delivery. If we are ever unable to fulfill your sponsorship, we refund it in full. Messages that are inappropriate will not be included.
If you would rather give in a tax deductible way, you may donate here: the City of Spokane's H.O.M.E. Starts Here Fund, my.spokanecity.org/endinghomelessness/donations, or the Innovia Foundation's Spokane Complex Wildfire Response Fund, goinnovia.org/spokane-complex-wildfire.
