Why Tradesmen Are Ditching Other Brands for JK Boots

"I have always bought what I thought were high quality boots, Red Wing, Thorogoods, Carolina, etc. No matter what I tried over the last 20 - plus years, my feet were always hurting. I thought the fix was more cushioning. I couldn't have been more wrong. Turns out that what I've been lacking all this time was the right kind of stable support. I am used to a break in period on new footwear, so initial wearing of these were surprisingly easy for such a stout and robustly built boot. In fact, the difference in how I felt at the end of the day was so vastly different from other boots that after just a little more than a week, I ordered 2 additional JK Boot models. I am confident in their product and truly believe the relief will last because the materials used to make these awesome boots will not break down, they will only break in and get even better. All of the JK boots are well worth the investment. Most of the people who would take the time to read this are just like me, working 10-14 hour days 6 to 7 days a week or even more. We already cripple ourselves through the work we do so if we can make it a little easier on ourselves by investing in the right foundation then we owe it to ourselves and our families to do it. If you're on the fence about the purchase, do it. You will not regret it. "

"These boots are amazing. I can truly attest to the “go anywhere, do anything” idea behind the OT. These boots take me from concrete floors to wooded hillsides to construction sites and perform extremely well in all areas. I spend about 10 hours/day on the job and have a history of back injuries/surgeries. I have worn a bunch of different boot brands, most recently Nicks Boots, and they were killing my back after my last surgery 3 years ago. I went so far as to abandon boots altogether and wear trail running shoes, but lack of durability and protection brought me back. The JK OTs give me the traction, protection and stability I need. What I wasn’t expecting was the exceptional feel. Some boots feel like a cast and lock all the joints of your feet/ankle into a single unit. If that’s what you’re in to, that’s great, but these boots do not feel like that. My feet and ankles still flex in these boots, and I am aware of what’s underfoot. My ankle/lower leg feels supported and secure, but not locked together. I mean that in the best possible way. I have a strong feeling the bison leather plays a major role in this feeling of secured flexibility.

As for sizing, I think JK underestimates their length and overestimates their width recommendations, at least with the bison leather. For context, I wear an 11.5 in Brooks Running shoes, a 10.5D in Nicks Boots and Thoroughgood boots, and I ended up with a 10D in JK Boots. I first ordered a 10.5E based on the size recommendation and they were way too big all around. Returned for 10E and they felt fine at first, but quickly became too wide with anything but my thickest pair of winter socks. Ended up in the 10D and they fit perfect and get better with each wear. Again, this review and my sizing experience pertains to the bison leather. I think this is especially important to consider when determining the correct width."

"I'm a brick and stone mason. I've worn redwings my whole life. I recently purchased a pair of ot's and there like absolutely wonderful. I've been spending 10-12 hours a day in them and they're only getting better.
I can stand on a 12/12 pitch roof without sliding with these boots, they are top notch.
Once they break in good, they're the most comfortable stable boots I've ever worn.
