JK Boots O.T. 6" Review: Full O.T. Quality in a Shorter Height
The O.T. 6" gives you everything the full height O.T. is known for in a shorter package for you to work harder in even more situations. It's still got the thick 8-9oz leather, serious arch support and the quality construction. Whether you need to kneel a lot, frequently move between rocky hillsides and finished floors, or even want to wear your boots to dinner too, this O.T. still has great ankle support and all-day comfort without locking you into just one use case. But don't take our word for it, let's see what the reviews have to say.
In Their Own Words: O.T. 6" Owner Reviews
“Just what I was looking for“
★★★★★"I've been wanting a pair of JK OTs pretty much since they came out. So when a pair matching my preferred specs and recommended size showed up on the JK Warehouse site, I pulled the trigger! (I think the reason they were declared seconds is that the roughout on the heel counter is extra furry. Doesn't matter to me, it'll wear off or lie down anyway.)
My previous PWN boots have been Danner Rainforests. The JKs are definitely next level in terms of quality. Couple comments:
- The JK size guide was pretty much spot-on. I hate when boots are too short. The JK size guide said I should get a 10/E, which feels right. There's maybe a little more room than I need, but I'd rather have them a tiny bit big than a tiny bit too small. I considered going a half-size down but, after reading comments, I followed the guide and am glad I did.
- Even at 6", they're heavier than I expected. They don't feel heavy on my feet, but picking them up, they're clearly a solid boot.
- The break-in has taken a little longer than I thought. The uppers are super thick. Even oiling them, it's taken about a week more than I would've expected. No big deal.
- The honey vibram sole is awesome. So much quieter on hard surfaces than the regular black vibram sole. Grip feels better, too, with the softer rubber.
Now I want a pair of Forefronts with a wedge sole... ;)"

“OT: the 6 for us CDL overtime lovers.“
★★★★★"Second pair of JK boots. I’m a size 12D in off the rack boots and sneakers. 11E in a JK. Play around with inserts and socks fyi for a dialed in fit. I don’t wear boots for fashion I wear them to protect the moneymaker which are my feet. Basically zero break in on these. If you’re coming from a mass produced boot welcome to the world of real leather. So give your self a day or two if these are your first PNW boot experience. The last on this is butter for us who push air breaks all day and have to kneel to hook up this and that plus do some lifting. Basically a 55 last on a diet. My arches love em! This 8oz leather is built for beatings. Perfect. For my needs and feet these boots are about as perfect as it gets. I’ve blown through a metric (bleep) load of boots in my time. Yes, I’m getting older. If the wife cleared me hot for eight more sets of boots from JK I’d order em tomorrow. Work hard and be safe friends.

"Best boots"
★★★★★"The o.t. 6"safety toe is my 6th pair of jks, I originally purchased the o.t. 8" soft toe for work a few years back and quickly realized that they were tough, a few day break in period and I was the most comfortable I had ever been without wet feet, without back pain.... now 3.5 years later iam still wearing my original jks (in need of a rebuild) they are my favorite boots, at work, at play, out to dinner with my wife or a family function they are on my feet...can't say enough good ..... I have 6 pairs from ots to super dutys to wedge sole forefront, to insulated super dutys.... i have boots for every occasion.... and they never fall apart like my old choice in footwear did....I love them, I live them, I wear them... Mike in northern vermont builder of 25 years, excavation business as well , jks keep me moving."
“Best boot yet!“
★★★★★"I'm a log carpenter in the Adirondack mountains and a collector of American heritage boots. I chose the OT's because I work on rocky hills and finished floors. These boots broke in quicker than my iron rangers and even in the 6 inch the ankle support is great. I've also been in school the past few years and mainly work in the summer (my reason for choosing the 6" boot) but I also do snow removal in the winter with a 12" rubber carhart boot. Once I test these out in some shallow snow I'll know whether or not I'm going to buy a 10 or 12" for the winter. I highly recommend these boots and the customer support is great! Shout out to Vlad for helping me with my sizing.

"Super Feet"
★★★★★"After 30 years of wearing prescription orthotics in my flat shoes and boots I found JK Boots. For less than a new set of prescription orthotics I thought I would give the OT’s a try. Well today I spent 4 1/2 hours working on uneven soil and 3” rock. My feet felt great and I didn’t miss the prescription orthotics as the built in arch support actually did a better job. The JK arch support keeps me energized. JK has (for my foot shape) the best last geometry in the PNW industry. I get a supportive snug heel to ball fit with plenty of room in the toe box. JK All The Way! PSN: The above statement is not intended as medical advice. It is simply my experience wearing JK Boots."
"JK boots delivers the goods"
★★★★★"First, I am impressed with the overall quality of the boots. This is a company of true craftsmen who build boots that you can be proud to wear. Second, their sizing instructions work well. The boots fit perfectly without having to size up for wide feet. Third, they are worth the wait. I as able to check on the progress of the build, and notified of the shipment so I was home to receive the boots when they arrived (signature required for security). Finally, the break-in period was virtually non-existent. I followed the instructions to oil the boots, and I had no problems. The first day, I had a bit of ankle bite, but that was a lacing issue."
“Incredible value for hand-made work boots!“
★★★★★"I bought these when on sale for Black Friday. They were from the JK warehouse. For a little of $315 I bought an amazing bargain! My first pair of JKs was the JK300 with wedge sole. Instantly comfortable! Now with these OT boots, I could not be happier with my purchase. These boots will no doubt last for decades since I mostly work inside. The fit is perfect with tue arch support that feels similar to a good fitting western boot. Best of all is the intoxicating smell of still new leather from inside these boots, as if I had walked into a western wear store! Worth every penny at any price!"

"Redwood 6 inch O.T. Is what I’m reviewing"
★★★★★"I just received these boots and couldn’t be happier, They’re well built quality boots that will probably outlast me. I ordered One size down from my brannock measurements and they seem to fit fine. I can already tell they’re molding to my feet. These boots aren’t the lightest, but they’re lighter than most PNW boots and I think they’ll be perfect for everyday wear and hiking. I love the arch support and the overall feel, at first I was worried they were going to be too tight, but after wearing just Couple of times the comfort is already getting better Thank you JK Boots! Bill F."
"Great boots"
★★★★★"This are the best boots I ever worn I’m impressed I’m still in the breaking period but it’s getting better my instep it’s a bit tight but I choose this size my self knowingly I’m supposed to be a 4E so I don’t know if this plays a factor but I just make sure not to tighten my laces on that area too much also I didn’t want to wait on a build so I went with 3E on the width my next pair I will go with the 4E but overall I’m very happy everything on the boot it looks great I like the combination on the leather it’s just an awesome boot I recommend it to anyone"
"Lived up to the Hype!"
★★★★★"I was shopping for work boots to use for anything and everything when I stumbled upon JK boots. After watching some reviews and learning more about the company, I was sold. I took my measurements using the tool provided on the website and ordered my 1st pair of custom boots ever. I am a busy body, always on my feet doing things outdoors mostly. These boots have been a game changer for me. No more foot, hip or knee pain to speak of. As an added bonus, the break in process was easier than I was expecting. I can’t wait to order another pair!"
The Short Version (On a Shorter Boot)
As we can see the O.T. 6" doesn't ask you to trade in quality for flexibility. The same leather with a foot-hugging last geometry, and the same arch support that kills back pain, just with a lower height to better fit your needs. Customers with decades of experience in heavy work boots love them so much they get even more pairs while first time customers say they lived up to the hype. If you've been waiting for a boot that works from the job site to going out in the evening, the O.T. 6" is it. Built to last and handmade in the USA, be sure to check it out below.
