The O.T. sits on our proprietary flexi-design, which is more mobile and agile than the stiffer Superduty or Fire Inlander. Does the O.T. run true to size, or should I size up or down?
He came to JK Boots after cycling through mass-produced boots that broke down his feet in just months, and found that sizing a full size and a half down from his Brannock measurement gave him the fit he wanted. "My reason for the investment was because I was having a constant problem with off the shelf mass production work boots. 1 To many plastic fabrics caused my foot to over sweat causing athletes foot i would have to replace within first 6 months. JK solved this by a all leather construction you can feel that your feet don't over heat even on a work day in July. 2 mass production boots caused me to have Achilles tendinitis because the memory foam insoles that would permanently compress within a month causing a flat foot condition the shank would stop functioning the way it is suppose to because of cheap plastic build materials. JK boots solved the problem for me by elevating the heel stacking all the thick layers of leather creating a very supportive sole. The angle and support alleviate my Achilles tendon pain and no more knee or back pain even installing 1500 pounds of drywall daily therfore proving to be orthopedic. I decided to wear the boots without insoles in a effort to stomp my foot print into the thick leather midsole for the ultimate comfort and even weight distribution for the base of my foot. With doing this I found that 1.5 size down from brannock sizing worked perfect for me. How ever remember the ultimate comfort comes after about 6 weeks of full time wear putting your foot print into the leather one step at a time."
A longtime White's, Nick's, and Redwing wearer, he wasn't sure if they would fit once he saw the size our guide recommended. "I've been through a fair amount of boots, White's, Nick's, Redwing, La Sport, the list the goes on. I was surprised how well the boots matches my size using the JK sizing system. How does our sizing compare to boots I already own from other brands?
He wears a 9.5 EE in two other boot brands and found his O.T. Bison fit exactly the same. "Sizing was spot on—I wear a 9.5 EE in ****** and *****, and these fit exactly the same. Arch support is well-balanced, making them a fantastic all-around work boot. Would I recommend them? Absolutely. Just be aware of potential finish inconsistencies and the quirks in the ordering process. A union pipefitter who wears an 11 across different brands, his size in JK Boots is a 10D. "Got lucky and was able to get a pair of in-stock Canyon Bison OTs right after Xmas. My 1st pair of JK’s, my 1st pair of PNW custom boots... Wondering about JK’s sizing? Well, I wear Thorogood’s Heritage MocToe in size 11D everyday for work. I’m a union pipefitter. I wear size 11 in Nike & Adidas , and I’m a 10.5 in Timberland Pro’s. The JK 10D’s were perfect size for me. I’d probably go with the 10E’s in the superduty, so I can wear a heavy wool sock in the winter."

I'm nervous about ordering something this expensive without trying it on first - is the online sizing guide reliable?
He followed the sizing guide after watching a third-party review online: "I recently purchased some 8” OT boots in black RO/Smooth after watching Weston’s review online and finding my size was ready-to-ship. I followed the sizing guidelines and the fit was almost perfect. I went with the black leather over Bison due to cost and the break-in took about 36 hours of work for me before I could go a full 8 hours in them without issue."
His size was surprisingly different from what he wears in other brands. He trusted it and two weeks in, he says the fit was right and the boots were comfortable straight out of the box. "I've been wearing this pair for the last 2 weeks and I love these boots. Was a little unsure about sizing, been 9.5/10 in other brands so to discover that I'm a 7 was a surprise! They fit perfectly and are comfortable straight out of the box. Thanks JK, if I ever wear them out I'll be back for another pair."
Is it worth getting fitted in person, or is online enough?
He visited the Phoenix Location and left with a properly fitted pair in under 20 minutes. "I have only had my O.T.s for about 3 weeks now and they are already the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. It took about 2 weeks for them to break in and now they fit my feet perfectly. I went to the Phoenix, AZ store and was fitted there, which is good because I would have ordered a half size larger then I got and they would have been to big. I had a great experience at the Phoenix store, I had my foot sized, tried on a couple pairs of boots, and got he O.T.s ordered in under 20 minutes. I wish I had known about JK Boots a long time ago, it would have saved me a lot of money on boots and I would have been a lot more comfortable."
He found PNW style sizing a little confusing to navigate alone, so he opted for an in-store fitting before placing an order. "These boots are incredible! Fit was spot on, I went to the shop in Phoenix to get fitted for a pair a while back. The sizing on the PNW boots is confusing, so I figured I would get fitted to ensure I got the right size. Been wearing them for a couple of weeks now and they feel better every day."
What about custom orders, does the sizing process work differently?
Ordering customs for a demanding, specialized use case (training tracking dogs), he says the required custom fitting process ahead of the build was well worth the extra time: "I took the plunge and custom ordered these boots for a specific purpose. I train tracking dogs for police and military units and the South Carolina Low Country is my stomping ground. The conditions are brutal. Clothing and boots will literally fall apart in a single season here due to the environment. I needed a boot that could withstand the elements and protect my legs from briars, thorns, and biting insects. There is simply nothing commercially available that I could find and JK seemed to fit the bill nicely. The boots fit perfectly and that is due to the custom fitting that one must do prior to a build. (Well worth the time.) Better yet, there was zero break in time. I went right to the field and put on about 40 miles in the first week. No soreness and no blisters. From a comfort and protection standpoint, the boots are ideal. Longevity is what I am now looking forward to seeing. Can these boots stand the test of time in our jungle environment? Hopefully I will have a great report in the next year!"
